Agreement with Unions Secures Plant Stability

Leonardo, Italy's defense and aerospace giant, has successfully negotiated an agreement with trade unions to prevent a planned temporary closure of its plant in Grottaglie, southern Italy.

The closure was initially scheduled to last four months due to a slowdown in production of Boeing 787 aircraft components, a key product line for the company. However, the agreement reached at Unindustria headquarters in Rome has averted this disruption.

"We are pleased to have reached this agreement, which ensures the continuity of production at our Grottaglie plant," said a Leonardo spokesperson. "This demonstrates the company's commitment to maintaining employment and supporting the local economy."

The deal was signed by representatives of Leonardo and several trade unions, including FIM-CISL, FIOM-CGIL, and UILM-UIL. The agreement outlines measures to manage the production slowdown and mitigate its impact on employees.

Leonardo plans to utilize various tools to manage the production challenges, such as flexible working hours, training programs, and temporary redeployment of employees to other areas of the business.

The agreement also includes provisions to safeguard the workers' rights and ensure a fair distribution of the necessary adjustments. It provides a framework for ongoing consultation and collaboration between the company and the trade unions.
