Edwards leads Minnesota to 106-99 win
Denver now trails 1-0 in series
The Minnesota Timberwolves stunned the Denver Nuggets 106-99 in Game 1 of their NBA Western Conference semifinal series on Thursday night at Target Center.
Anthony Edwards led the way for Minnesota with 36 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Karl-Anthony Towns added 22 points and 10 rebounds, while D'Angelo Russell contributed 19 points and 7 assists.
Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 32 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists. Jamal Murray added 24 points, but shot just 8-of-24 from the field.
The Timberwolves led by as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter, but the Nuggets rallied to cut the lead to 4 points with just over two minutes remaining.
However, Edwards hit a jumper and Russell added two free throws to seal the victory.
The Timberwolves now have a 1-0 lead in the series, which continues with Game 2 in Minneapolis on Saturday night.
